I just ate dinner here tonight and it was DELICIOUS! The best thing I realized is that the drive thru is operating and it open late on the weekends. Good stuff!

To this day, I can’t stand the Avanti’s near Bradley U. I used to be a student there and remember everyone and their brother eating there under the assumption that this was really good Italian food. I’ve been to Little Italy in New York so trust me… they don’t come close to the real thing.

And, for some odd reason, everything I ever ate there gave me an upset stomach. Definitely kills on a night of drinking when you start off in the dorm bathroom for 2 hours to begin with. And, to test the theory that it was only the food I was eating, I tried different combinations including salad and once, just a glass of water. Definitely didn’t work… still upset stomach every time.

I did go to the Rockwood location for a meeting of friends and was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere as well as the lack of upset stomach afterward lol. The food and service was definitely worth it. It still ain’t Little Italy, though…

I agree. Refills for free seemed to be the standard but not anymore it seems. Sky Harbor now charges for refills but not at the refill price. Full price in the same dirty glass with the same ice. Has it gotten that bad in the business that they can’t give you 10 cents worth of soda for nothing after charging you $3 for the first one? Also, I sometimes call Sky Harbor for carry out on Tuesday nights, usually their great chicken dinners. I was told last Tuesday they had too many customers and carry out was an option tonight. What? Well it might be a cold day in hell before I consider them an option.

You should also consider trying out the new Avanti’s on North Knoxville. It has a large seating capacity, great service and great food. They’ve really improved on their system for carryouts and delivery too. We used to go to the one on Rockwood, but Knoxville is closer for us. I think they’re trying to make improvements.

Location, location, location. Rockwood rocks. University…ah, ok. East Peoria….just plain bad. Since moving across the river, Avanti’s has gone from our eat-out of choice to about 3rd or 4th down the list. The sauce is much different over here….not good at all.

We’ve always had excellent food and good service at the Smo-King Pit. Heck, that place has brought us into the mall more than anything else for the last few years.
